Overview

The coastal plains and dense forests of Lakamha are the ancient homeland of a broad coalition of tribal peoples. Organized into a loose treaty organization not dissimilar in concept from what held early Thracian city-states together, the Lakamhan peoples are nominally led by Skennenraharo, cheiftain of the Tula tribe, whose people are uppermost in the informal hierarchy.

Lakamha is located in the far southeastern reaches of Meridia, bordered by Hiraaca to the northwest and Chenooet to the south. The inaccessibility of their lands have allowed all three of these nations to develop without severe interference from the major conquering powers of the world, but Lakamha plays host to a small Hispalian colony at Puerto Cedrello, with whom amicable relations are maintained.

The people of Lakamha are mostly Barbaian, though some of the more long-term settlements have become more bare-bones Human over time. Additionally, some of the clans include substantial Ogre minorities and a light blend of other goblinoids. While enjoying an international reputation for being the "land of the cannibals" much of this is overstated. A number of the Lakamhan peoples particularly engage in funereal cannibalism, and ceremonial partaking of the deceased rather than as a food source, but the practice is poorly understood and poorly regarded by outsiders.

The Lakamhans religion is shamanistic, involving nature spirits, beings that outsiders would describe as Fae, and location-specific manifest entities. While ancestors of the modern clans were organized into an advanced, urbanized civilization, this has not been the case for many centuries. Instead, the Lakamhans dwell in determined cooperation with their environment and make little change to the land around them, using only minimally invasive agricultural methods and keeping settlement sizes fairly small.
